Shaving soap
Shaving soap that is hand made features a careful mixture of oils and
clay for a traditional, luxurious wet shave. Handcrafted soaps for shaving
are usually made from combinations of olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil,
castor oil, and clay (Bentonite, kaolin, Rhassoul – just to name
a few).
The oils are what give shaving soap its luxurious qualities:
• Olive oil – creates a stable lather and is excellent for
skin conditioning
• Coconut oil – brings a rich, bubbling lather
• Palm oil – makes a good hard bar
• Castor oil – more lather and creaminess
• Clays – the perfect skin clarifier as well as adding a
good “slip” to the bar
To use shaving soap, you must have a shaving brush – badger hair
is the absolute best. Wet the brush with warm water and lather on the
top of the soap. Once the lather is worked up on the brush, rinse excess
water off the soap and apply the lather to your face using the brush.
One shave with specialized handcrafted soap and you’ll never buy
shaving cream or gels again.
